What is the Buddy Programme?
The Buddy Programme is a unique initiative designed to connect exchange students with local students in Klagenfurt. This programme fosters volunteerism and intercultural exchange, assisting international students in settling into our city and the university.
Who are the Buddies?
Buddies are local students who volunteer to welcome and support incoming exchange students during their semester in Klagenfurt. Their role includes answering pre-arrival questions, helping navigate the city upon arrival, socializing, and sharing insights into student life.
Why should you become a Buddy?
Becoming a Buddy offers local students the opportunity to interact with international students, learn about different cultures, enhance their foreign language skills, and form new global friendships. Also, this experience allows them to experience the Erasmus spirit without leaving home.
How do incoming students benefit?
Incoming students receive important support during their initial adjustment period – often the most difficult phase of their stay in a new country. The Buddy initiative offers both practical assistance and social connections, helping to smooth the transition into student life in Klagenfurt and to adapt to the new city. Moreover, having a Buddy helps build friendships within the local student community, what significantly enhances the overall Erasmus experience.
